The Water’s Great…Come on In

Posted on October 29, 2010

“Come, Thou fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.”

Did you sing that song growing up?  I can’t imagine how many times I sang this old hymn and never knew the scriptures that talked of God being a fountain of blessings.

Lately, I’ve been memorizing Ephesians 3:14-20. In verse 15, I’m learning about God’s “glorious unlimited resources”. I can’t help but smile when I picture this verse. The word “unlimited” makes me think of a fountain that never runs dry.

Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again and again. Anyone who drinks the water I give will never thirst—not ever. The water I give will be an artesian spring within, gushing fountains of endless life.” John 4:13

I am learning to ask God for help. I am accepting that He is not rationing His resources. He is already giving me an endless stream of mercy to cover my pride, my mistakes, my lack of discipline, rebellious nature, and SO ON! The funny thing is, the more I ask for help the calmer I am.

Have you enjoyed the refreshing splash of His mercy and love lately? Are you expecting God to be enough, to have enough to cover your needs?  I’ve put my toes in the water and I’m here to tell you…. “the water’s great! Come on in!”
